Pros
Easy Job for most part. My job is to simply check bills at Home Depot. People I work with are very nice.
Cons
Where do I start? Let's start with the pay. The pay is very very low for the title you have as a "security guard". Minimum wage start. Don't expect any raises unless you've been with the company for 3 years (I have not). Next, the management. Wow, I can't even describe fully how unorganized and unprofessional the management is. When it comes to scheduling, your lucky if you go the week without them calling you at least 6 times A DAY! They constantly call. If they need someone to work at 6am, they'll call you at 4:50am, if you don't answer, they'll call 4 more times at least and then try your house phone. Sometimes they schedule too many people for a post. That's where favoritism plays out. If they like you, they'll let you stay and get payed, if they don't, they'll tell you to just go home. And of course, if they mess up, ITS YOUR FAULT! If they mess up the scheduling (which happens extremely frequently) they'll blame it on you. Once they scheduled me on a day I was off, they called me an hour and a half AFTER I was supposed to be there and told me that I wasn't at my post. I simply replied that I wasn't scheduled for that day, nor was I at all notified that they might need me to work that day. They just put my name in there and never once mentioned it. I then speak to the boss who screamed at me and then transferred me to another employee who heard me out and "understood". After that, didn't hear from them in about 3 weeks. Then I call and finally get back on schedule. This is what you'll deal with if you take this job. Another thing, good luck calling out. A very close friend of mine past away and the wake arrangements were made only for a single day, in which I was working, so I called out and explained my situation. They reply "well its not a close family member so we need you to work.". WHAT? I blew my top. Your telling me I can't pay my respects to my close friend who died because I need to "stand guard" at a door in a Home Depot?? Are you serious?? This is what you'll deal with if you take this job.
