Pros
This can be a great place to work. You can be creative and learn about many mediums. Co workers are usually great.
Cons
Since we became a "Store of the Future" our hours have been cut but we are expected to do more, sell more and be positive about it. We're told that how we feel counts yet when we express how we feel we're told that we're wrong or we're making excuses. There's a difference between an excuse and a reason why something is happening. Our jobs have become harder and we are held to unreasonable expectations set by outdated formulas. It's totally unrealistic, but it's been made part of our KPI (key performance indicators) so if we fail it's our fault. When our sales were down I was told I could fix the problem by "looking in the mirror". I found that very insulting since I work very hard at my job. I don't show up just for a paycheck. I've built up loyal clientele, and care about this shop, otherwise why would I be here for 13 years of my life? Yet I feel nothing I say matters, I just tell them what they want to hear. I'm not personally responsible for the recession! When I look in the mirror I see a hardworking loyal employee who tries to balance doing the right thing for the customer/artwork and the company. Seriously, if it comes to making a choice between putting food on the table and hanging a picture, what would you do? Oh, the picture, of course.
