Pros
I worked with great people, it was management that was problematic.
Cons
I haven’t worked for Mitchell in almost 2 years. So why review now? Because my current job serves as a daily reminder of how problematic Mitchell TES was. I worked inTechnology Enabled Services for someone who is what I consider one of the most problematic managers I’ve ever had. And I say that as someone who worked in the TV and film industry. He raised his voice at me multiple times in meetings, and told me after the fact that I deserved it for being “combative.” He pressured me to go to happy hour while I was pregnant. Told me that his boss would be “disappointed” if I didn’t go. (I was 20 weeks pregnant at that point and didn’t want to go to a bar and be around people drinking.) Nor did I want to participate in any other off-hour work events he constantly pressured us to go to so we could attain that “work family” dynamic he so desperately wanted. As if he is entitled to my time after work. What people need to know is that this is patterned behavior. He so obviously targets women - it’s always women. Before me, he was inappropriate with someone else, dragged her name through the mud and spread lies about her to us during team meetings. When she left, he then targeted another woman, who also eventually left. He once told the entire team “she didn’t do anything anyways - she outsourced her work.” Then it was my turn. He gaslit me, manipulated me, made me feel as though I was always the issue and I was deserving of his treatment. He made me fear that I would lose my job, like I was never doing enough. Mocking me in meetings, aggressively coming at me with demands, blaming me for missed deadlines I knew nothing about. After he pressured me while pregnant, and calling me out during a work meeting for not going, and calling me out in front of other management for not wanting to go out, then pulling me aside and telling me his boss would be disappointed in me; I had to go to HR. Then I got disinvited to meetings. I went back to HR to discuss retaliation and nothing happened. Having to work for him while pregnant, navigating the constant barrage of toxicity, having to walk on eggshells, never knowing what would set him off, working from a telephone room all day so I didn’t have to see him, fearing for my job while pregnant, all of that created so much fear. The burden of stress he created, during such a joyous time in my life - I will never forgive. I was hired as a PM 1 and 4 years later left as a PM 1. The last meeting I had with him before I left for maternity leave (I recorded the conversation btw and just found it), I told him I would be out during the promotion cycle. And he said to me, “well it was your choice to start a family. And this unfortunately is a PM 1 role and there is not room to move into a PM 2.” First I ever heard of there not being any room for growth. I’ll never forget it. And recently I received a text from one of his subordinates - a former coworker, describing similar experiences. She’s stressed and anxious and scared just like I was. Another victim of this manager's misogyny. So I wanted to speak up again. For her and all the women who feared for their livelihood and had to deal with that debilitating stress.
