Myriad Genetics does not care about their lab tech employees. It's an abomination of a company to work for. Instead of a decent monetary raise, employees were told that the free snacks were part of their raise. The majority of companies provide snacks to their employees without taking it from the paychecks of the lab workers. Most employees here got a ~1% raise, if they got one at all, including employees that have been there for 6+ years and employees who go above and beyond and pick up loads of extra shifts. We were told that the company could not afford to have bigger raises this year because they didn't do very good, while the company was bragging about how much revenue they brought in. In fact, they were going to use that money to remodel a building that was built less than a year ago that no one uses because everyone works from home. If they did so well, why are they not giving it back to the lab workers that made it possible for them to do so well? This company would be nothing without the lab workers and somehow we get treated the worst. Some promotions take place in order of seniority, some take place just because someone is a female and that's what they think feminism is and it's totally random which is which, so good luck climbing the ranks here. Honestly, you'd make more money and probably be valued more at a taco oriented fast food restaurant than you would be here. Use your degree and your time somewhere else if you want a fulfilling career, because you're not getting that from Myriad. I wouldn't even recommend this job as a stepping stone to other jobs. There's plenty of labs in Salt Lake. Save your sanity and know your worth and just work for one of those instead.
