Some great people but awful culture and extremely high turnover - Broker Nolan Transportation Group Employee Review

Pros

Meet a lot of great people and learn how to cold call.

Cons

They hand out “leads” that are garbage and they hand them out to every new rep in the company, usually about 130. They then hire the another 130 across all offices and let them cold call whoever and it’s usually the same leads. Companies hate to get calls and then they fire 90 percent of the new hires and give the accounts to the 1 Person left standing. I got those accounts and was still let go after giving an accurate representation of the company on LinkedIn. High turnover with an aggressive sales force and was fired on a Friday randomly without any notice or explanation. Nearly impossible to remain with this company for over 2 years. When they say grass is greener on the other side, they mean it because working at McDonalds pays a better base salary than Nolan for new hires. Look elsewhere

Pros

The people make work easier and enjoyable.

Cons

Logistics is constantly changing. This is not a company issue, but you have to be prepared to stay on your toes and adjust on the fly in this industry.

Pros

NTG was a place where I thought I would be long term. Working in the Dallas office, I genuinely felt like I had found a home. I enjoyed everyone I met and the friendships I made along the way. The memories I made with my hiring class are ones I’ll never forget. I sincerely hope our paths cross again. I’d also like to thank my managers for their exceptional leadership. I truly gained valuable skills that I’ll carry with me into my next role. The same goes for everyone I met in NTG’s Austin office during my visit.

Cons

As for the companies decision, I have a lot of thoughts. From my perspective, this came down to numbers on a spreadsheet. What wasn’t seen was the work that many of us put in behind the scenes during a very difficult market, often working stale accounts that had little chance of converting because of past relationships and mistakes. I strongly disagree with the decision. That said, I can honestly say I gave this job everything I had and more. I left it all on the field, and I’ll always be proud of that. Despite how things ended, I’m grateful for my experience at NTG, the people I met, and everything I learned along the way. I’m excited to see what I can accomplish in my next role and where this next chapter takes me.
