worst job I ever had

Pros

1) You can wear whatever you want. That's about it.

Cons

Where do I even begin? NTG was the absolute worst job I ever had. As a naive, recent college graduate I was so excited to begin my first "salary" job, however, that excitement quickly disappeared once I began working here. If you are looking for any form of slight professionalism where people are not screaming, having tantrums, making constant racist and misogynistic slurs then stay far away from NTG. As 1 out of 5 women in the office with over 80 employees, be prepared for sexist/flirtatious comments everyday. Senior brokers are treated like royalty and their inappropriate comments that were often heard by upper management would just be dismissed. There was an incident where one of my senior broker co-workers told me that "my butt looked amazing in those leggings" right in front of my GM and he completely ignored it. If you're an over-privileged, fratty white boy that loves degrading women and screwing people over this is the place for you. Be prepared to lose all of your moral working here...you are encouraged to lie and screw your customers and carriers over in order to profit. I had never been more depressed in my life working in this office and the moment I left I felt such a weight being lifted off my shoulders. And the former CEO Kevin Nolan? What a joke; I've never met a more incompetent, childish, creepy, former CEO in my life. There are rumors he stepped down as CEO due to harassing a young recruiter and bringing contraband onto a cruise ship. I could go on and on about how terrible this job is, but it's not worth all of the niddy-griddy details. And if someone from HR decides to respond to my comment with the same, repeated message they do for all of the other comments here on Glassdoor with, "The freight industry is a 24/7 business and you need to have tough skin to work here" is a downplayed excuse; my fellow co-workers and myself who all left NTG were extremely hardworking and dedicated. What separated us from the individuals who decided to stay at NTG is that we all knew we could land far better jobs that actually value their employees. Do yourself a favor and save yourself from this corrupt frat house company, I'm honestly so surprised they're still in business. There is a reason that there is an extremely high turnover rate.

Pros

-A lot of great people work here. -Can wear whatever you like. -Can build great relationships with your customers.

Cons

I left NTG because it has completely changed from what it used to be. -Micromanagement is the only management. -If you aren't on the phone you will be asked why you aren't on the phone, despite what you are working on. -Have to make an insane amount of phones calls each day (depends on your book of business, 120+ for new hires). Mostly talking to voicemails, or recycled leads that already told your coworker they weren't interested earlier that day. Literally everyone calls the same companies. -Pay structure has completely changed, and it is definitely not worth the stress - and it is very high stress. Not only the industry, but majority the pressure put on you by management. -Pay cuts are made for "resources" that you will never see. -There is absolutely no control. Things go wrong all the time - with carriers and customers. -This company is driven by greed. Looking out for those at the very top and not its employees. -Depending on your customers/carriers, you may be working a lot of after hours & weekends. -It is the good ol' boy clubs. And if you don't give in to the frat house mentality, you will be shunned. -If you aren't 10+ minutes early, you are late. Don't even think about leaving at 5pm. -No one is happy anymore. I made it a point to ask every single broker in our office if they were happy before I made my decision to leave - No all around. -Always on edge in the office, management is looking for reasons you call you out or write you up. A lot of the managers (including GMs, Team Leaders, VP, Regional GMs) are following orders and most are just awful managers. -High turnover. -Managers will call you during lunch to ask where you are. And will call you after hours if you forgot to send them your "top 5 best conversations" for that day or whatever other meaningless task that is a complete waste of time. -I remember when I was asked to write a positive review on Glassdoor by NTG. I could go on for hours, but this company has already consumed way too much of my time. This company is not worth the stress you will endure. Sure, they will hire anybody straight out of college, but this is not where you want to start your career.

Thank you for your feedback. NTG prides itself on our collaborative, energetic work environment across our offices nationwide. The Transportation industry is a fast-paced environment and, just like with any other job, our employees get out of the job what they put into it on a daily basis. We wish you the very best in your future endeavors!

Pros

Annual company retreat Free polo shirt

Cons

Just to name a few.... *PAY (ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE) you're better off flipping burgers. *HIGHLY unprofessional atmosphere. Kevin Nolan encourages this behavior. If you're looking to enter an industry in which you are regarded as a incompetent , party animal...you've certainly found your match. Management is HIGHLY under qualified. It is laughable how bad management is. Want to drink at work and ruin accounts? Welcome to NTG.

We are sorry to hear that our work hard, play hard culture at NTG did not fit with your desired work culture. We do feel that our high-energy atmosphere and bonus structure makes us standout in comparison to logistics companies in our industry. We wish you the best in finding the right fit for you!
