Pros

Work hard play hard atmosphere.

Cons

READ WHAT YOU SIGN! This company will hire you give you some fireball, and make you sign your life/career away. If you ever plan to grow your careen in the logistics field you will not be able to do that after working here. They will come after you if you even think about going to another logistics company. Many companies require non-competes but no one acts the way this company does. I have had multiple people call me for advise on going to work here, and I have told them all to look else where. Why work for 4 years in college to get a logistics degree, and be trapped to work just for Nolan. Not right! This company one day will run into someone that will take them on for all of the bad things they do, and it will end badly.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate all feedback from current and former employees. We are sorry for your experience, but please note it is industry standard to sign a non-compete in the Logistics industry. We always give our employees time to read over all documentation prior to starting on the first day. If there are ever any questions regarding Human Resources material we have an entire team ready to answer those questions. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

if you like frat houses turned sloppy logistics company with not 1 adult in the room, this place is for you

Cons

you are not valued if you are not a sales employee. and even if you are in sales it is extremely sink or swim environment. They will fire you if your numbers aren't hitting after a few months. you can make a few bucks in sales if you get lucky or are handed a golden goose account (yes, favoritism) but beyond that they will churn and burn you without a doubt to hit daily calls and your metrics, micromanagement is big in this regard. if you work in operations you have less risk but zero support. they do not expect you to stay at this job for more than a couple years at most and they will not pay you above market salary in any circumstance. they do not value the position and they don't have any framework for you to have a career in operations at NTG.

Pros

Phones/computers are regularly updated and easy to use. IT does a good job and i appreciated having the new technology. You Can wear whatever you want.

Cons

If you are female and not in accounting, HR, or Recruiting, you will have a tough time getting anywhere if you are looking to advance your career. There were no women in positions higher than team lead when I left and that probably hasn't changed. Also a challenging environment for minorities. If you're a fratty white guy you'll fit right in. Bring everything they make you sign to a lawyer and have it edited. Do not sign that non-compete as is. Also, save a copy of everything you sign before you hand it back to HR because it is not easily accessible after that and there is an environment where if you do anything that might possibly look like you're looking for another job (such as trying to check your non-compete) even if you're not you are positioning yourself to be fired. Once you inevitably leave the company they will stalk you to figure out where you are working next so that they can mail copies of your non compete several times to you and your new company. Every department is run differently and there is no consistency. Accounting is run very well, and severely underpaid for the crap they have to put up with. If youre in sales, you won't get any help unless you're in Charleston, Grand Rapids or Atlanta. All the other offices are left to fend for themselves. The training is crappy and doesn't prepare you for the snake mentality of the people who "drank the punch" and will constantly leave you feeling like you have to defend your customers against other brokers. If you are in ops you are treated like crap, period. 90% of the time People are promoted into Management because they are buddies with upper management, and not because they are actually qualified to do the job. The people who are qualified end up leaving because they are severely underappreciated and underpaid. If you were fortunate enough to make it to some kind of management position at some point and you decide you want to try something else they will force you back down to entry level pay (again, no appreciation for seasoned employees).

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We want to take the time to clarify some things from the review. Please note, it is industry standard to sign a non-compete in the Logistics industry. We always give our employees time to read over all documentation prior to starting on the first day. If there are ever any questions regarding Human Resources material we have an entire team ready to answer those questions. The Logistics industry has a larger number of males in the workforce than females but we feel confident we are taking strides in the right direction to continue to recognize strong female talent. We are launching an initiative in 2018 to continue to support and develop our female workforce. It is important to us that we ensure all great talent in our company has the opportunity to advance. Again, we thank you for your review and wish you the very best in your future endeavors.
