Pros

The people that I work with were great and my Manager was super transparent and great as well.

Cons

I was excited to join NTG, but unfortunately my experience did not meet my expectations. From my perspective, the company places a much stronger emphasis on short-term numbers than on developing and retaining employees. One of my biggest frustrations was the lack of investment in new brokers. The training and coaching needed to succeed in a competitive freight market didn't seem to be there. Leadership's expectations felt like they changed frequently, making it difficult for new hires to build momentum. After Kevin Nolan became more involved again, the tone from leadership shifted noticeably. A company-wide email from the CEO came across as reactive and discouraging rather than motivating. Instead of inspiring employees, it made many of us feel like we were valued only for the revenue we generated, particularly if we weren't focused on high-margin freight. I also found the turnover to be concerning. Several employees, including some who had been with the company for less than 90 days, were let go without what appeared to be much opportunity to improve. While I understand sales organizations have performance expectations, I believe new hires should be given reasonable time, consistent expectations, coaching, and a chance to succeed before termination. The freight industry has become increasingly competitive, and I believe adapting to today's market requires investing in people just as much as focusing on metrics. In my experience, the company prioritized results over employee development, which created a challenging work environment. Ultimately, I left feeling that my skills and experience would be better appreciated at an organization that values long-term employee growth, consistent leadership, and a more supportive culture.

Pros

The people make work easier and enjoyable.

Cons

Logistics is constantly changing. This is not a company issue, but you have to be prepared to stay on your toes and adjust on the fly in this industry.

Pros

NTG was a place where I thought I would be long term. Working in the Dallas office, I genuinely felt like I had found a home. I enjoyed everyone I met and the friendships I made along the way. The memories I made with my hiring class are ones I’ll never forget. I sincerely hope our paths cross again. I’d also like to thank my managers for their exceptional leadership. I truly gained valuable skills that I’ll carry with me into my next role. The same goes for everyone I met in NTG’s Austin office during my visit.

Cons

As for the companies decision, I have a lot of thoughts. From my perspective, this came down to numbers on a spreadsheet. What wasn’t seen was the work that many of us put in behind the scenes during a very difficult market, often working stale accounts that had little chance of converting because of past relationships and mistakes. I strongly disagree with the decision. That said, I can honestly say I gave this job everything I had and more. I left it all on the field, and I’ll always be proud of that. Despite how things ended, I’m grateful for my experience at NTG, the people I met, and everything I learned along the way. I’m excited to see what I can accomplish in my next role and where this next chapter takes me.
