Pros

Training is insane and you meet a lot of really cool people from all the different cities where NTG offices are located. The owner throws keggers and takes you out to karaoke bars and bowling alleys with tons of food and free booze. The people you work with are pretty sweet, office is laid back (people literally wear sweatpants to work and sit at their desks with chewing tobacco in their mouths all day). Loud music if you're into a crazy work environment.

Cons

Managers EXPECT you to be there at 7:30 and absolutely no one leaves at 5:00. Managers also pressure you to take a short lunch even though that's your one solace from the phones all day. People stay until like 6, and sometimes 7pm, and then you're expected to be available 24/7 to talk to lost truck drivers or angry customers. In my personal experience, some stuff went down with a truck over on the east coast and I literally had a manager tell me to lie to my customer to cover up a mistake. He literally pulled me aside one day when I told him I wasn't going to lie to customers and said "Honey, you're in the wrong business if you can't lie". I knew then that this was NOT the industry, or the company for me.

Pros

The people make work easier and enjoyable.

Cons

Logistics is constantly changing. This is not a company issue, but you have to be prepared to stay on your toes and adjust on the fly in this industry.

Pros

NTG was a place where I thought I would be long term. Working in the Dallas office, I genuinely felt like I had found a home. I enjoyed everyone I met and the friendships I made along the way. The memories I made with my hiring class are ones I’ll never forget. I sincerely hope our paths cross again. I’d also like to thank my managers for their exceptional leadership. I truly gained valuable skills that I’ll carry with me into my next role. The same goes for everyone I met in NTG’s Austin office during my visit.

Cons

As for the companies decision, I have a lot of thoughts. From my perspective, this came down to numbers on a spreadsheet. What wasn’t seen was the work that many of us put in behind the scenes during a very difficult market, often working stale accounts that had little chance of converting because of past relationships and mistakes. I strongly disagree with the decision. That said, I can honestly say I gave this job everything I had and more. I left it all on the field, and I’ll always be proud of that. Despite how things ended, I’m grateful for my experience at NTG, the people I met, and everything I learned along the way. I’m excited to see what I can accomplish in my next role and where this next chapter takes me.
