Pros

You can dress casually for work.

Cons

I would encourage anybody considering working for this company to read all reviews and pay attention to the negative reviews. I can speak with experience and confirm that the negative reviews are spot on. Yes, you can wear jeans to work and you will get free beer on Fridays but it is not worth the little pay and the little respect that you will receive in return. Account Managers have about 4 months from when they begin working to get together a book of business, if they don't, they will be fired. Operations have better job security but are tasked with cleaning up the messes that the inexperienced account managers make. I have, on more than one occasion, got cussed out by a carrier because an account manager screwed up. Management never makes the account managers own up to their actions. Many employees have also been hired to be operations coordinators only to be moved to just track shipments after training. To add on to the lies that Nolan tells, the commission that they claim the operations coordinators get is non existent. There is also an after hours phone that most employees get about once a month. You are expected to answer the phone when it rings... even at 4 a.m. The after hours phone was never mentioned during the job interview.

Pros

The people make work easier and enjoyable.

Cons

Logistics is constantly changing. This is not a company issue, but you have to be prepared to stay on your toes and adjust on the fly in this industry.

Pros

NTG was a place where I thought I would be long term. Working in the Dallas office, I genuinely felt like I had found a home. I enjoyed everyone I met and the friendships I made along the way. The memories I made with my hiring class are ones I’ll never forget. I sincerely hope our paths cross again. I’d also like to thank my managers for their exceptional leadership. I truly gained valuable skills that I’ll carry with me into my next role. The same goes for everyone I met in NTG’s Austin office during my visit.

Cons

As for the companies decision, I have a lot of thoughts. From my perspective, this came down to numbers on a spreadsheet. What wasn’t seen was the work that many of us put in behind the scenes during a very difficult market, often working stale accounts that had little chance of converting because of past relationships and mistakes. I strongly disagree with the decision. That said, I can honestly say I gave this job everything I had and more. I left it all on the field, and I’ll always be proud of that. Despite how things ended, I’m grateful for my experience at NTG, the people I met, and everything I learned along the way. I’m excited to see what I can accomplish in my next role and where this next chapter takes me.
