Pros

Being a Product Specialist at NTG offers a dynamic and rewarding career path centered around deep product expertise, client impact, and strategic influence. In this role, you become a subject matter expert on platforms like Acumatica or Sage, helping clients align technology with their operational goals. You play a key part in the sales cycle by supporting Account Executives with tailored product demonstrations and solution designs, while also collaborating closely with implementation and support teams to ensure a smooth post-sale experience. The position provides high visibility across the organization, offering opportunities to influence internal processes, contribute to product development feedback, and drive customer success. NTG invests in your growth through ongoing training and certifications, keeping you at the forefront of ERP and automation trends. Additionally, the role fosters strong professional relationships, cross-functional collaboration, and opens doors for advancement into leadership, product management, or solution engineering roles.

Cons

While being a Product Specialist at NTG offers many advantages, the role also comes with a set of challenges. The workload can be demanding, with frequent time-sensitive requests, overlapping responsibilities, and the need to support multiple sales cycles simultaneously. The position is often reactive, requiring quick pivots to address last-minute demos, technical questions, or internal escalations, which can disrupt focus and create inconsistent work hours. Additionally, Product Specialists have limited control over final decisions, as key choices around pricing or scope may ultimately be made by sales or leadership. Keeping up with constantly evolving ERP systems like Acumatica or Sage also requires ongoing training and re-certification, adding to the pressure. Furthermore, the role can sometimes overlap with other departments, leading to confusion or duplicated efforts, and despite playing a pivotal role, client recognition often goes to implementation or support teams, leaving your contributions underappreciated externally.

We don’t currently have a Product Specialist role in our Chicago office, so this review doesn’t quite line up with our team structure. That said, we always appreciate feedback and are committed to creating a workplace where people can grow and succeed. Pros

The people make work easier and enjoyable.

Cons

Logistics is constantly changing. This is not a company issue, but you have to be prepared to stay on your toes and adjust on the fly in this industry.

Pros

NTG was a place where I thought I would be long term. Working in the Dallas office, I genuinely felt like I had found a home. I enjoyed everyone I met and the friendships I made along the way. The memories I made with my hiring class are ones I’ll never forget. I sincerely hope our paths cross again. I’d also like to thank my managers for their exceptional leadership. I truly gained valuable skills that I’ll carry with me into my next role. The same goes for everyone I met in NTG’s Austin office during my visit.

Cons

As for the companies decision, I have a lot of thoughts. From my perspective, this came down to numbers on a spreadsheet. What wasn’t seen was the work that many of us put in behind the scenes during a very difficult market, often working stale accounts that had little chance of converting because of past relationships and mistakes. I strongly disagree with the decision. That said, I can honestly say I gave this job everything I had and more. I left it all on the field, and I’ll always be proud of that. Despite how things ended, I’m grateful for my experience at NTG, the people I met, and everything I learned along the way. I’m excited to see what I can accomplish in my next role and where this next chapter takes me.
