Pros

Growth/revenue numbers look good. Still early enough to improve culture. Teams in the US (40+) and Philippines (25+) consists of good people that work well remotely. Almost everyone is on LinkedIn which helps. Health benefits are good for anyone single, under 26, and without kids. This works for most of us.

Cons

Creating new tools outweighs fixing issues with existing tools but most of us are kept in the dark about how the product works and that's an issue in itself. Turnover is high and leadership isn't interested in improving culture. Team members that have been with the company for years are more condescending than helpful a lot of the time. Asking questions can be so uncomfortable.

Thank you for the feedback. I wish you had a better experience in your time at Northspyre. (I'm operating under the assumption this is a former employee who recently left, as the feedback sounds familiar.) You were truly valued while you were at Northspyre. I told you this several times personally before you left (in 1 on 1s) but where I failed was not realizing the level of stress and dissatisfaction you had until your last 2-3 months. I was oblivious but once you voiced your perspective, it seemed too late (you may have been too jaded at that point) to turnaround. On the bright side, you accomplished a LOT! We grew revenue nearly 3x in the time you were here and you were a big part of that but the strain of customer growth was especially difficult on particular parts of the team. That's the tricky part of a fast growing startup - sometimes we feel a little stretched too thin and things are in a constant state of change. Here are a few specific responses to parts of your review I disagree with: ON CULTURE: In my perspective, I think we have a strong team culture that is always a constant work in progress. Most people at Northspyre have an incredibly positive attitude, care a lot about their work and their teammates, and are always striving to grow personally and professionally (mantras of our cultural values). That said, I like to say that everyone is responsible for cultivating the culture - it is not a top-down directive but a daily exercise that we must all practice and be responsible to building the very best culture that we all wish to be part of. We all have to be the example we want to see in the culture. We let our actions guide the norms of culture (even more so than just our words). I do think most people do this well at Northspyre. For anyone skeptical and considering joining the team at Northspyre, I encourage you to reach out to anyone in any role who works at Northspyre on Linkedin. I'm confident in our team culture, so I believe in letting the people here speak for themselves. ON BENEFITS: As we shift from an early stage Seed funded company to a well-funded Series B company, we will continue to improve our benefits. For example, early this year the first thing we did upon raising our Series B was a open up a 401k plan with company match for employees. You're right about health benefits. They have historically been better for individuals than for families with children relative to Big Tech companies like Google (though we have improved each enrollment cycle based on our financial ability at the time). Later this year at the next enrollment cycle for health benefits, there will again be significant improvements. Note, we can only update health plans once per year otherwise we would have done it already post-Series B raise. But improvements for families is coming! Stay tuned. ON TURNOVER: We actually do well at employee retention (knock on wood). Yes, there are some departures but that is normal. I'll share some stats as I believe data helps people to draw their own conclusions. In the past year, 61 different employees have worked on Northspyre's US team not including interns or non-full-time employees. Eight of those 61 have left the team (six voluntary /2 involuntary) leaving 53 full-time employees today. That's a 13% turnover rate. By comparison to the US Bureu of Labor Statistics, in 2021 the nationwide turnover rate was 47% and in our industry (Information [Technology]) it was 38.9%. People have been going through a lot in the past 2 years but I do hope at Northspyre we can continue to hang on to our team. They are truly amazing. US Labor stats here: https://www.bls.gov/news.release/jolts.t16.htm ON GLASSDOOR REVIEWS: In 2021, I asked the team that if they felt they had a perspective to share, that they should leave Glassdoor reviews. Sometimes, it's easy for Glassdoor to fill up with disgruntled former employees as happy people on the team often aren't actively going out to write reviews. But I did feel it was important for others to know that these few negative views don't represent everyone's voice at Northspyre. We have never encouraged solely positive reviews -- just honest ones. If you take a look, you'll see the reviews are candid that employees left and not all 5 stars. And the feedback is ALWAYS heard. If you are a current employee reading this, please do leave a candid review!

Pros

- Great product with a ton of runway, and strong growth each year I've been here. - Solid work-life balance once you get up and running; once confidence is earned, it's a warm, trusting work environment with great benefits.

Cons

- Building the plane while we're flying it 100% of the time - Decision bottlenecks with a flat leadership team - Fire drills part of daily life (start-up)

Pros

- Leadership genuinely listens - both my manager and CEO have been receptive to feedback. - Strong mentorship from my direct manager, who carves out dedicated time to support my growth and check in on my workload - Hard work gets recognized - I received an unprompted raise due to work-ethic & performance recognition. - The role strikes a great balance between leveraging what I already know and being pushed to grow in new directions - The team is genuinely great to work with day to day - Exciting growth phase - moving into a dedicated office space has added a real sense of momentum and establishment

Cons

- The recruiting and onboarding process can be inconsistent and occasionally misleading - multiple new hires (including myself) have come in with incorrect expectations around office days and hours. - Be sure to clarify in-office expectations explicitly during the offer stage, as what's communicated in interviews doesn't always match the reality on the ground.
