Good vibes for my seasonal experience at OnTrac - Package Handler OnTrac Employee Review

Pros

As a seasonal Package Handler, I really liked the leadership there at the Kent warehouse and the employees (orange vest leads, grey vest permanent employees and other blue/yellow vest seasonal employees). You start the shift being told what is ahead for that day and then you go to it. There is a big difference in the lightest work, which may be clothes retail bag packages, and the heaviest work, which may be team lifting tires heavier than 50 pounds. There is good employee appreciation with pizza or tacos, etc.

Cons

If this is your first package handler experience, it is important to realize that you are expected to come in around Peak Season and really produce, which (as a pro there is a seasonal premium) is expected with the volume and with that seasonal premium- the con is that sometimes the direction on how to do seemingly simple tasks is a bit nuanced. After a seasonal role, I found that because of the inherent nature of there being different sized boxes, loading a trailer is not an exact science.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We’re really glad to hear you enjoyed being part of the team at our Kent warehouse, especially the leadership and the teamwork across the different groups. That kind of support makes a big difference during peak season. Our operations move fast and, as you mentioned, the work can vary quite a bit from lighter packages to heavier team lifts, so we appreciate the effort and flexibility that goes into every shift. It’s also great to hear the team created moments for employee appreciation along the way. We also appreciate your feedback around communication, especially during situations like severe weather. Clear and timely updates are important, and insights like yours help us continue to improve how we support our teams. We appreciate everything you and the rest of the team do to keep things moving.

Pros

It is a pay check

Cons

This is solely for the IR/sunrise shift. -Poor management/leadership they don’t communicate well and yell and talk down on you. They got rid of the managers that we actually liked working for a few months ago. People have quit because how she treats us handlers . -scheduling - have you start earlier but take an hour lunch . Make it make sense - hard workers - they will run you into the ground , while the lazy/slower workers don’t get pushed or worked as hard. A lot of favoritism here - safety hazards everywhere - pallets not spaced , irregular boxes / oversized boxes lining the belts and exits of the trucks - training - very poor . They will put new people on the van lines and not even explain/show what needs to be done . They do not train us how to brick load or build a solid wall. -personnel - revolving door . They waste time onboarding people just to have them work a week then leave sometimes just a day or two . On any given day 8-10 people call in . Then the burden is on the people that show up . Pay - they need to pay a differential for night shift . It might keep more people . I have seen the good and bad here . The current situation is the bad .
