Pros
Solid crews you put together yourself. It feels good to watch the new hand become the one teaching new hands coming on. You spend more time with these men than your own family and you'll develop strong relationships that last well after you left. Travel all the time. Little oversight if hitting numbers EASY Stormwork when it happen. Bird-dogging lines pays better than you'll make with two crews under you hitting bonus every week.
Cons
Inter-Crew theft. You more worried about other Osmose crews yanking materials/tools off your trucks than Crystal Methany down at that fleabite motel you stationed in for the contract. Wasn't so bad when I started, You'd give warning to your crew, triple check your team leads are keeping things locked up. If it kept happening, you'd have a fist-fight over it foreman to foreman, get your missing things back, get to work and sort out getting everyone supplied near the end of the work day. Now, you got thieves hiding in hotel rooms calling the GF screamin' bloody murder instead of handling it like a Man. Lodging. You WILL stay in some horrific places to keep cost down. Not always, but more often than not you are booking hotels with an eye towards cheapest overall cost for your area, everything else besides price is a non factor- even if you need to add an extra 30 minutes to your morning drive to the work sites.
