Pros

Good PTO they have a great health plan and you get a lot of experience with the different cases that come in especially with the Amish and Mennonite community and the rare diseases that exist with them. PIMCU is a very special experience you can not get at most hospitals their pediatric rehab team does a fantastic job educating parents so that children can go home earlier. Great town to have a hospital in you feel very safe walking to and from your car and you can grab meals for takeout or even go out pre covid to get great food!

Cons

There seems to be a short coming amongst staff as far as their cultural awareness. There is culture vision on the actual info rt and it does a great job outlining every culture and religion and how they deal with medical care so it’s not so much the institution failing the staff it’s just very typical central PA ignorance and the stubbornness to remain ignorant and prejudice to cultures they don’t agree with. The wages here are some of the lowest in the state for respiratory and your opinions on care are not valued, they do not use research based medicine to treat the children in the PICU With tidal volumes of 10-12 and low PEEP with ordered q4 open bag lava he suctioning even in their heart unit they will ask you to give albuterol to a patient with CHF.

Pros

Mission-focused Some patients and employees are nice Good benefits

Cons

Crowded and Busy. In the cancer institute the lines for check-in went out the door and it seems like everyone forgets their manners in that place. Very little pay for dealing with so many angry patients
