Pros

The kids are amazing! They are really sweet and fun to be around. You will get emotionally attached to them quickly.

Cons

BSCs are often unhelpful. (I have only worked with 1 I liked) Teachers and parents are often unwilling to change or may even be hostile. Kids can attack you. Hair pulling, biting, hitting, spitting, kicking etc. Unpredictable schedules. Clients constantly cancel. I have rarely made all of my hours in a given week. Management constantly complains about clients who need TSSs, but refuse to staff them. Part-time TSS are at the bottom of the barrel. While I was part-time, I had to constantly beg for more clients. TSSs are treated like crap. We are disposable. Only BSCs and MTs are given any credit for anything. High turnover rate. Insurance is through the roof and only offered to full-time employees. Practically no hours in the summer. Even full-time staff are working 20 hours or less. Part-time staff are lucky to get 10 hours.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and we are sorry to hear that you are considering a change. If you decide to leave T.W. Ponessa & Associates, we wish you the best of luck in your new role and we hope that you find the environment you are looking for in a company. We want to make an effort to seek feedback and use that to promote a more caring environment for our employees so that we can continue to grow together. We also recognize that the Therapeutic Staff Support position can be challenging, both physically and emotionally. We value all of our TSS employees very highly, and like to recognize individuals monthly in our newsletter, the TW Post, for their achievements and by offering incentive opportunities bi-monthly. We are thankful that you took the time to share your opinion here, so that we and others can reflect on it and think about ways we can adapt and do more to ensure you and others feel valued and appreciated. Thanks Again.

Pros

I enjoy how there are many opportunities for BHTs and others who work for the comany to create a positive work community. My higher-ups have been very helpful, informational, firm and kind. I enjoy working with my client and it has been a good transition into working in a school setting

Cons

I cannot think about any cons right now.

Pros

The rapport within the department was generally good, people are very supportive of one another. Supervisors could be helpful too depending on the issue. You do get to make your own schedule (somewhat). It's a nice building, I liked my individual office.

Cons

It completely wrecked my mental health; I was literally always burnt out and dealt with several severe depressive episodes while employed, as well as trauma symptoms afterwards. Granted I know this is partially due to the state of community mental health in general; however, I was in a state of constant anxiety regarding my productivity hours and always felt like I was being gaslit. If you don't meet your quota, you start losing PTO hours or sometimes even your salary. I worked 11 hour days and would still have to bring work home with me. I never felt good enough no matter what I did to get ahead. The business focuses more on quantity of clients rather than quality of their care; it sometimes felt more like I was working in a factory than in a therapy office. I feel bad because the clients are really the ones that suffer for it.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you experienced a supportive team environment during your time with us. We do want to clarify that expectations around productivity and scheduling are clearly communicated throughout the hiring process and regularly reviewed with staff to ensure transparency. We strive to provide consistency and support so clinicians understand what is required and have the resources to be successful. We recognize that community mental health can be demanding work and may not be the right fit for everyone. We remain committed to maintaining a supportive workplace while delivering high-quality care to our clients. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
