Pros
The 401k plan is managed by JP Morgan and it has a fantastic option called a Schwab Personal Choice Retirement Account (PCRA). The PCRA is a brokerage account at Charles Schwab that allows employees to invest their 401k in Mutual Funds that are outside of the core plan and individual stocks listed on domestic exchanges. I've been asking previous employers for this benefit for that past 25 years only to be denied every time. In my opinion, besides health insurance, this is the best benefit available from Precisely. I am confident I will reach my retirement investing goals much sooner using a PCRA. In addition to mutual funds and individual stocks the PCRA also allows investing in: ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) Closed End Mutual Funds - available on domestic exchanges only, as long as the fund is not setup as a Limited Partnership ADRs (American Depositary Receipts)
Cons
Very little documentation is available about the PCRA specifics. It took me multiple calls with JPM and Schwab to figure out the details. Now that I have them I am using this benefit to its full advantage.
