Pros
We have a decent rapport with the Engineering and Product teams for feedback on what we're hearing from customers. But even between those groups, there's in fighting that prevents things from progressing productively. The Sales Engineering team is a great group to work with and there's a lot of collaboration and support.
Cons
The pay for Sales Engineers is definitely below market value, do not let anyone tell you differently (Not sure where Glassdoor is getting those averages, but no Senior or Principal Sales Engineer I know is making that much). We are the work horses of the company, and we're not compensated accordingly. We're pushed to take on sales responsibilities that should be on the AEs, Professional Services, or Customer Service Managers.
