Pros

Bagels once a week were fine.

Cons

This company had one of the most toxic management cultures I have dealt with. There was constant micromanagement, and some managers seemed to think leadership meant hovering over people, second-guessing everything, and using their title to make subordinates feel small. Too many people in management came across as insecure, incompetent, and more focused on control than on actually helping anyone do good work. Some managers had a habit of scoffing during 1:1s, and it was demoralizing as hell. You won't have a perfect paper trail for every interaction, but you'll remember those conversations vividly because of how openly dismissive, smug, and belittling they felt. It was the kind of treatment that chips away at you over time. Nothing direct enough to make it easy to escalate, just enough contempt, condescension, and petty hostility to make sure you knew exactly where you stood. That kind of behavior does not motivate people. It just makes them miserable. Overall, the place feels fake, hostile, and exhausting in a way that is hard to explain unless you have actually worked under managers like that.

Pros

- some of middle managers are good but are unfortunately stuck constantly cleaning up the executive teams mess

Cons

- chief of staff more like glorified CEO brown noser - head of product has no idea what’s going on - ultimately the biggest problem here though is there are no consequences: incompetent work doesnt get challenged, competent work doesn’t get rewarded. A select group of favorites can do whatever they want. Even the president who made the most inept judgement calls and had poor management got away with a $20 million golden parachute. Nothing matters unless you are best friends with the CEO. Deliver exceptional work? You’ll get a big THANK YOU! But don’t except a bonus, promotion or salary bump. They really don’t care.
