Pros

Working with kids at program was very fulfilling and they made my job very enjoyable for this reason

Cons

Through my time with right at school I experienced working with a variety of program directors at each different school. The last program director I had was horrible and made my job extremely stressful, and made me feel worst at my job than I ever had before. Through the pandemic we had to have a vast shift in how the program worked, and he expected me to know how to fulfill this role 100% of the time. He would belittle me whenever I did not meet his expectations( basically every thing I did lol). It was important for me to create a fun, rewarding, safe and educational space for the kids, while his priority was to make sure the kids didn’t take more crayons and water than what he wanted them to have. This was the most stressful environment I’ve been in, and I did not think this is the kind of space children should be coming too. Aside from lack of proper management, the company cared way more about not losing profit than creating the best program possible for the children. You could see this by the lack of supplies given to us and how they would have staff come in for sometimes only a two hour shift just so they don’t have to pay staff more. No wonder they are going to have such a high turnover rate. Who wants to drive out to work to sometimes only get a two hour shift?

Hi, this is Mina Patel, VP of HR. I was so sorry to read your review as it's so very different from what I usually hear. Please contact me directly at mina.patel@rightatschool.com and we can set up time to talk. I am very open to learning more about your comments and thoughts on how we can make things better. I can also set up time for you to speak to team members from our training team if you see gaps in our blended learning models to support our staff in their roles. I know they would welcome the feedback! I hope this doesn’t come off defensively because we should all be open to criticism and see the opportunities to learn, but I was very confused by some of your comments. For example, we've received very positive reviews about training support and our blended learning model has a 97% training satisfaction rate from our educators and program managers. We want our educators and program managers to feel confident in their role day one, so we provide over 20+ hours of online and live training before a new team member steps foot in program. We also offer additional training courses throughout the school year, so staff have an opportunity to continue their growth and development on an ongoing basis. Just recently we added a new micro learning program called, “Just in time 9s” which offers condensed trainings to all staff based on specific topics, many of which came from our field staff. So, if you see additional gaps, again, I would very much like to connect you with our training team. As for shift hours and Covid, we know this year has been tough. With Covid, the hours we are able to offer staff this school year have been limited further as a result of student enrollment and necessary program models put in place to keep children and staff safe during the pandemic. If you have recommendations for how we can make this better, I would very much like to talk. I am also super sorry to hear your comments about your experience with program directors - please email me so we can set up a time to talk about your personal experience. I find our program directors to be thoughtful, open leaders. But if you’ve experienced anything else, I’d love to hear about it. We do have strict standards to be sure - we are entrusted with the well-being of children, so we can be sticklers for certain practices and policies, but again, I hope you’ll reach out so I can honestly and openly hear your thought. Thanks, Mina

Pros

* Opportunity to gain early childhood education experience.

Cons

* Poor hours with little flexibility. * Extremely high turnover due to inadequate training and lack of support. * Toxic, cliquey work environment. * Program managers and some shift leads were unsupportive and often made staff feel suffocated. * Educators received little meaningful support while being expected to manage chaotic programs. * Inconsistent quality of coworkers; some displayed unprofessional behavior around children. * Upper management was dishonest or unclear about payroll, expectations, and available support. * Low staff morale negatively affected parents’ perception of the company. * Frequent micromanagement instead of coaching or mentorship. * Communication from some managers was often condescending, aggressive, or focused only on mistakes. * Management rarely checked in to offer help, instead focusing on criticism. * Some leadership styles escalated children’s emotional situations rather than de-escalating them. * Certain managers appeared quick to assume children were acting maliciously instead of understanding the situation. * Overall culture left staff feeling undervalued, uncomfortable, and unsupported. * Lack of investment in employee development and long-term success. * Poor leadership contributed to burnout and made retention difficult. * There was an employee with a dangerous criminal record that went unnoticed by management for some time.
