Pros
- Telematic technology seems to be worth something? - Okay benefits, nothing spectacular (minus RSUs...) - Very good at deception and promoting 'ignorance is bliss' which placates for awhile!
Cons
I joined Root with the idea that this would be different from a 'corporate' job. that there would be culture, friendships, hard work and strong personal connections (even while remote). I was wrong. New leadership brought in micro-aggressive, sexist folks into the People team that quickly dissolved the existing group that I wanted to join. If any concern was raised, it was quickly shot down. I'm unsure if this was a strategy to just gain more natural attrition prior to a layoff, but it worked. I watched as even new People team members left after just a few short months. Seeing these 'leaders' post on Linkedin about receiving awards in Diversity or even giving advice on how to be leaders is purely for show. Not one of them knows how to actually build community, foster an environment of belonging or even CARE about DEI. Every step anyone tried to take to increase the recruitment or retention of diverse talent was simply never addressed again. Hindsight is 20/20 and I believe that if you see these 'leaders' show up at your company, you need to run. They are there to kill morale and sell the company. Also, the RSUs are worthless
