I had a very flexible work schedule, a great boss, and decent opportunities for personal development.
Cons
I saw a lot of science staff struggle badly. There seemed to be a deficit of infrastructure to support the scientific work that is nominally the lab's mission.
Pay is not enough to live on a single salary in the area.

Thank you for your feedback. We recognize that the Bay Area is a very expensive place to live. We look at both internal equity and market data for our salary ranges. We are also working with Stanford on affordability issues as a part of their long-range planning process. We are glad you had a great boss and opportunities for professional growth.

The opportunity to contribute to high-impact scientific research while collaborating with a dedicated, intelligent team was truly rewarding.
Cons
Workload consistently increased while resources simultaneously diminished, creating a lack of backup personnel for key roles, and significant operational silos between departments hindered cross-functional collaboration.
