SSM continues to decline in quality of care, patient outcomes and staff satisfaction as it places far more emphasis on healthcare as a profitable business. Despite claims offering a shared governance model, employees input no longer matters. Benefits are cut regularly. Patient to nurse ratios are unsafe. Experienced staff is not valued and turnover is extremely high. What once was the shining star of the SSM system, St Marys Hospital- Madison has sadly been dragged down to the mediocrity of the rest of the SSM system at the hands of the corporate overlords in St Louis dictating from afar.
