Pros
- The company is performing really well and has strong product-market fit, and will likely continue to do well in the future. This is still very true even given the pandemic. - Incredibly smart, hard-working, and driven co-workers. Some of the smartest engineers out there (IOI/IMO medalists). - People work hard and move very fast. I've seen more accomplished at Scale in 1 month than other places I've worked in 6 months. - There's a value at Scale called "ambition shapes reality". The high-performance culture can push you to do things that you might not have thought possible. - Interesting and unique problems. The company's problem set is pretty different from many other companies (lots of HCI problems around how to best teach and evaluate users of the product).
Cons
- The culture of performance and hard work is not for everyone. Many of my co-workers at Scale aren't as bought-in as I am. - Teams are very lean which can make it difficult to be proactive and work on longer-term efforts which will have lots of impact. - Growing pains mentioned in other reviews. The company definitely did things that didn't scale early on, and is still working on scaling everything up.
