Pros

- decent pay considering you don't need to have a brain to do the job well

Cons

- Attract talent by false advertising what position entails - 70% of prod ops managers are new grads because everyone leaves so fast - Work long hours solving problems that require 0 critical thinking skills but just lots of time to complete - Looked down on as lesser from engineering and product (as they should) - There is no career growth. People would stop leaving if they actually got promoted to interesting roles, but there is virtually 0 effort by the company to foster career growth -

Pros

- Lot of flexibility as you get a say in how much core platform vs. customer-specific work you want to take up - Exciting growth avenues being pursued by organization in both enterprise and public sectors - Heavy emphasis on internal tooling being built that augments developer experience and pace of client delivery

Cons

- Sometimes, the team moves at a rapid pace at expense of sustainability/maintainability for short-term wins. - Lots of internal tooling being built are prematurely deployed for developers, and a lot of time goes into back-and-forth for gains that will only be visible in a large lookahead.
