Pros

If they didn’t purchase Grain Belt, they would not be known.

Cons

“senior and middle management" - lack all understanding of standard business practice - over sized ego’s that are easily intimidated by their talent - lack of all go to market processes - lack of standard business practices work and what tools are utilized - people drop off like flies since new business took over - family drama within the business - tools needed to do your job are not provided - company expects hourly and salaried employees to come on site whenever they say with zero reimbursments for miles, lodging, food - sales travel is not reimbursed - benefits withheld - Senior leaders have militant temper - Unprofessionalism (bring personal after hour disputes to work) and require employee punishments - wages are less than industry standards - incomplete or non-existent core business documentation - steal work and ideas of others (lower/upper management) - steal work and ideas during interview process - appalling family dynamics (one of the brothers was not even introduced with a name, he was just a son and this was to his face). Other brother left family and company. Boss man hates this brother and the brands he created. A JOKE COMPANY If you are a professional coming with experience from larger corporations (real corporations) you will NOT be happy here. This is ran like a circus and at any given time, the top guy takes off for active military duties (this is his work experience not President of a company)

Pros

You get to try lots of cool new shoes, there is tons of entertaining retail drama, you can make a decent amount of money if you are good at sales (I could easily double my base salary on weekends), and the discount is quite nice. Management usually seems to care a lot for employees, and many are very flexible with scheduling and make it easy to work around other jobs/classes. There is room for progression, and I was offered a higher position, but the salary growth wasn't ideal for me in this economy.

Cons

You are on your feet A LOT - I often walked 30-40k steps a day during the holiday season or Saturdays (with only a 30 min lunch break), and sometimes you get scheduled for multiple weeks with no days off in between. Getting a good manager for your schedule is also important, because some give only a week's notice before putting out the next couple of weeks, which makes it hard to plan things with friends/family. Part time employees also get no benefits, even when I was consistently working 40-50 hours a week for months at a time. Additionally, there are some unscrupulous characters working there, but most have gotten fired.
