Pros

(Worked at Dean of Students) Really nice people to work with. Also flexible hours, and you get to learn how to work independently.

Cons

Sometimes you have to answer the phone! Sometimes the tasks are tedious or you have to do repetitive things like stuff envelopes, but this isn't common

Pros

The office is a very happy environment to be in, with a tightnit community of AOs, student workers, and the dean of admissions. Truly everyone cared so much about their job, but still had personal lives and it was nice to see a good balance. Travel for the job also a major plus if you learn to link points to hotel chains/airlines.

Cons

The small workplace means if you wanted a more anonymous experience, definitely not going to get that here. Travel can also be a little taxing being away for days to weeks at a time while touring your region of admissions.

Pros

Scripps hires people who are mission-driven, dedicated, and professional. Scripps students are brilliant and easy to work with, for the most part. 2026 is Scripps' centennial year and they are doing well as a higher ed institution which is exciting! They offer really great benefits overall and remote flexibility for some roles.

Cons

Scripps is making a genuine effort to make compensation more competitive but still struggles with retention in some departments. As a small institution, it can be difficult to move up professionally.
