Pros

Its an exciting product and in an industry that is growing - the notion of cyber security is one that wider society I genuinely dont think has graspded properly yet to be honest. I say to friends and family 'if you understood what the team do here, you would be rooting for them to succeed' as we all have a vested interest in orgs like Snyk making the digital world a safe place to be and exist. More broadly as an employer, the culture is great. Dont get me wrong, like I said in the title its not perfect (more below) but there is a high level of expertise and intellect with everyone you meet, and in terms of collaboration across regions and teams its pretty good. Compared to previous orgs as well it is a place that will allow and support flexibility as long as you deliver on what you say you will/your team intends to. As a parent, I find this invaluable - I have so much less anxiety around taking time to support my child in the BAU of school/work/life than previous orgs. Final thing - its moves FAST. I love that but you should be aware of that as part of the experience here. Autonomy can be found but it comes alongside accountability - so as long as you are comfortable delivering on what you put your hand up for you will thrive. At least thats how I feel about my time here!

Cons

Change is inevitable - in this industry and especially given wider macroeconomic conditions - so being able to adapt and work with that in a place like this is important. Just my own view, but this is as much about how you manage your perspective - it is truly an Agile environment in terms of how it operates, and I have found it helpful to live with the ethos of 'the plan is not important but the planning is' - so as anyone thinking of walking in or accepting a role, just be aware of what you will need to say 'no' to in order to take advantage of the great projects you might want to say a 'hell yeah!' to : ) So technically I would not describe the above as a 'Con' personally - just the reality of working in a scale-up-to-enterprise environment.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a detailed review. I agree that the autonomy and accountability are present here, but I'm glad you feel it is a positive part of your experience. Your feedback is especially helpful as we are continuing to grow and looking for ways to evolve as we do. -Mike Brown, Vice President, Global Talent Attraction and Growth

They're a non-public, start-up company, they had layoffs which is always scary.

Pros

Fully remote, flexible, and monthly stipends. Good pay.

Cons

Shady leadership. Tendency to hire employees for a specific reason only to dissolve their position once whatever project they forecasted for the employee is complete. I’ve seen it happen to multiple employees during my employment until it finally happened to me after a few years. Was advised by a former employee in leadership that I would more than likely be overloaded with work and worked out the door in some way because that was their trend. I didn’t believe it but it started happening to many people around me. I don’t trust these people and managers are very loose lipped, move sloppily, and doesn’t know how to not let secrets slip out. I knew my position was being dissolved from meetings I saw on my managers calendar. Luckily I started applying for jobs because I saw the writing on the walls. I had something else lined up but was still a bit blindsided because I was clearly communicating need for help to my leadership. Multiple interviews asking how I was doing and what I needed help with only for 3 days later to be told my position was no longer needed.
