Pros
the upscale stores look great, not difficult to land a job here, no probationary period, you gradually gain health benefits over time (kind of useless for most young employees/college students however), lots of locations, short learning curb as long as you are trained properly, union contract makes it much more difficult for any of the managers to fire you, most of the work you do is independent, personal online human resources account.
Cons
bad pay even if you are working at one of the upscale stores, two-faced managers with not as much management skills as they need/should for their jobs, going full-time isnt so easy, short breaks (even 7 hour shifts only allow you one 15 minute break, and cigarette breaks after or before your 15 minute break might even get you in trouble), little room/chance for promotion unless you have a college degree and years of experience within the company, lots of vendors working at the same time which sometimes creates issues, rigid/petty customers, free stop and shop card but there are NO discounts on ANY of the food if you work here (have fun paying the same price as the customers), you may be tricked into doing managerial tasks without receiving an official promotion, the union DOES NOT give you a pay increase if you have or receive any type of college degree, direct deposit is delayed if their is a holiday near the day you get paid, the management gives you NO education in terms of product information or general company principles, store management tells you to walk customers to products they are trying to find which just wastes your precious working time (only walk them if the customer wants you to), personal online human resources account is overly-complicated and requires constant and extremely annoying re-registration.
