Pros
If you're not looking to work too much you should be okay because they don't give you a lot of hours as a part-time. You can become a manager with ease so moving up in the system is a piece of cake and there are all kinds of jobs available throughout the store if you're willing to stick around and try to get into a different department.
Cons
Morally, I cannot tolerate Stop & Shop's dealings with its employees or its company policies. The managers of the store were irresponsible, apathetic, rude, and downright cruel. All food that is considered not fresh is LOCKED in a dumpsters rather than donated. The amount of waste is incredible. If you ask for different hours, miss a single day of work, or call them out on their inappropriate behavior they won't fire you because legally they can't without a reason. I have seen them lie to try to get people fired and cut peoples' hours until they are forced to quit. This didn't happen to me though because when I had a family emergency and tried to called out for the first and last time, I was told to come into work or I would be fired, so I came into work. There is a middle aged woman at my store that was made to do heavy lifting outside her job requirement because she was left entirely alone in her department and she sprained her neck and is now handicapped. Another girl there that I know worked there for ten years and still does not get seniority when it comes to hours or holiday pay. If you make more on the holidays because you have been there longer, they won't put you on because they don't want to pay you time and a half.
