Pros
Working with the underserved of the greater Philadelphia area was rewarding to say the least. As a teaching hospital the residents (house-staff) are exposed to urban medicine and take or rather assumer a lot of responsibility and it is wonderful working with them and teaching them.
Cons
There is a lot of in-fighting between various factions in the academic health center, and too much control is in the hands of non-physicians, which creates difficulties. Salaries are flat and there is a constant financial struggle.
