Pros

- Benefits for management including: healthcare, vision & dental. - Employee discount at the time was 40% off. I hear it's now 50% off. - The right management team will help develop and grow the skills of their employees and give them opportunities to take on more responsibilities and grow in the company.

Cons

- The company really wants management to push $7.25 minimum wage. If you're lucky you could get between $8.25 and $9.50. But that is unheard of in most locations. Keyholders were $10 (while needing to be able to do almost everything the SM did). - Benefits are not worth it to anyone with an established career, a family or both. - Employee discount doesn't balance out the astronomical price gouging the company started doing years ago. Paying $30 for a $60 blouse is still insane. - The competition culture is so strong in the company, it breeds one of the most toxic work cultures I've ever been apart of. Management of surrounding stores were incredibly unprofessional. Often, they would go out of their way to impact sales of another store that was close competition. - A DM (who had taken over temporarily for a DM I loved) once said in a conference call that we needed to really push and get the most sales because she wanted to win a big prize the company had for the DM's... there was no prize for the winning region or store. - Company ignores feedback of employees. More often punished for feedback by the removing of tools and resources that made store operations smoother. - Unrealistic expectations of understaffed stores performing often ridiculously difficult timelines of promotions, floorsets, store visits, holidays etc. - Company disciplines management for overtime hours taken to finish tasks, creating an environment where management teams would work off the clock on a weekly if not daily basis. The company knows it's happening and they terminate people they find out doing rather than taking a look of the systemic problem they've caused. - Between the company treating the employees terribly and too many stores with terrible management, it's a revolving door of management and there's never enough sales associates. - The company has the worst incentives programs I've ever seen for a retail company. Basically none if you're not management or higher. It's really only DM's and above who get quality incentives. - There is no work-life balance. Period.

Pros

Great employee discount, loyal customers.

Cons

Too focused on profit margin to care about employees and customers. Clothing has gone out of style and is constantly trying to keep up with competitors like Maurices and Aerie. Several stores have closed in my area due to low sales.
