Low to No Raises - Financial Analyst Travis County, Texas Employee Review

Pros

Stability, Good Retirement, Pretty Decent Benefits, Plenty of Time Off

Cons

People rarely get raises and when they do- it maxes out generally at 5%. They will have cost of living adjustments some years, but with the Commissioners all taking a large increase to their salaries plus the recent cap to the tax allocation for TC, it is unlikely that the rest of the county will see much. And being a county, there are no bonuses. Work/life balance is a poor excuse being that since the salaries are so low, the employees have to work so far away that it takes them at least an hour to get to work in the morning. I will often be gone for work for 12 hours a day and I can't imagine it's much different for most others. Vesting takes a full 8 years so to even enjoy one of the best benefits of this job, you have to deal with this commute for 8 long years.
