Good coworkers, positive environment, overall low stress

Cons

Very low base salary compared to other companies in the area and hardly any raises even after years of employment (coming from someone who did very good work and was a large impact on the teams. For example, a member on my team from a different contracting company made 30k more a year, we did the exact same job.

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. We do a market survey and update pay bands once per year, providing both cost-of-living raises across the board and targeted raises for those falling behind their pay band. Additionally, we always welcome individuals to have an analysis performed on their own salaries, just in case we've missed something in the routine surveys. Anyone in the interview process is of course free to negotiate salary and/or inquire on the process(es) we use to keep current in this regard.

Pros

Work is flexible with plenty of opportunities to train and grow. The people I work with are great and generally happy to be here. The company does well to find the right place to fit you in, leveraging your strengths.

Cons

Contractors are generally looked down on by government employees and occassionally you have to deal with some interesting personalities

Unfortunately, the tendency you describe is an unavoidable element in most government contracting, yet we can (and should) mitigate that on our side. Great leadership, transparency, benefits. I had a wonderful experience working at UNCOMN for about 3 years. Top leadership genuinely care about the company/employees and, if you show interest /actually put the work in, they help you advance your career. When I talked to upper management / C-suite about my new opportunity that I was taking, they were genuinely happy for me because I thought it was good for me. They also said I always have a place there if I want to return. I give my strongest recommendation to this company.
