There are no good reasons to work here other than to give existential purpose to greedy people that don't even understand their own domain and make decisions often to fire people at random.

If you're a good developer, you're just going to look like a magician to these people and they are always going to think that because they wrote a contract without consulting anyone, that your time should match their numbers. If you're not the best developer and want to get better, well tough. The good developers are overburdened and can't really help you with your growth. You'll be tossed to the wolves and most likely put on a performance improvement plan. Either way you're going to get paid below average salary and there's not really any incentive to make the company successful with the meager 0-5% annual raises. I couldn't help but feel like there were meetings that went on behind the scenes like this: Manager A: "Dev so-and-so says it's gonna take 20 hours to finish that feature because of some technology thing I can't repeat but sounds scary." CEO: "He's lying! Shake him until he does it faster. Meanwhile I'm going to confront other devs and cast shadows of doubt!" Change the data model? 30 minutes, right? Full regression test? One QA guy in a day. Rewrite the app with all current and new functionality (no design or services yet)? A week and a half? Fix this bug that we've known about for a year before the release in 2 days that you previously estimated at 2 weeks! It should be noted, developers often experience a honeymooning period associated with their first major contributions. Other than an attaboy and a pass from being thrown under the bus by conniving managers, there's no real benefit to this like there would be at a real company, like profit sharing or a promotion. Oh, and don't forget to log your time for every menial thing. Do yourself a favor, list about 20 or 30 software companies and go interview with all of them. You're going to get rejected by a lot of them and that's ok, but surely you will jive with one and your experience will be a lot better than with Velocitor.
