Pros
Virtru employs smart, passionate individuals. Work life balance is excellent and you are encouraged to work your own schedule (around meetings of course). As someone who was always remote, the culture definitely supports you with flexibility and the response to covid was very well thought out and everyone is very understanding of new extenuating circumstances. The product makes a difference, especially now, and has a promising future as a saas product. New product team is excellent. The company is making a concerted DEI effort. Leaders have improved transparency over the past year to the benefit of the organization and everyone has a sense of ownership in their role.
Cons
Execs hire their friends, former direct reports, or someone referred to them without much regard for the proper process and vetting. This has worked out both positively and negatively in the past. Mostly negatively as it creates a culture issue. Pay is relatively low (I’m not buying the startup excuse) but not terrible. no 401k match, and no performance review process (and therefore no professional development or clear raise/promotion process). Hard to see a future at this company but you can easily coast for now if that’s your thing. If you can’t handle a lack of process/direction, Virtru isn’t for you.
