Pros

Promotional opportunities from within. Obviously as with most staffing firms, the career paths follow sales or recruitment, with a handful of support and operational functions that are not going to be in the higher earnings range at a staffing company, or be eligible for commissions etc. Volt is also now recognized as being a best place to work for Six sigma. The West coast in particular has very tenured mgmt, sales and recruiters, it is not uncommon to find recruiters with 10 years, mgrs with 15-20 years tenure. The percentage of staff who return to Volt shortly after leaving for "greener pastures" is high, and the company always seems to welcome them back without a grudge. I don't think it is a good place for those seeking instant gratification without paying the dues and there does tend to be a revolving door of such types. They do recognize hard work and talent but you have to create your own path and make your own way, there are no real shortcuts.

Cons

The different divisions do not always communicate well. The company is attempting once again to fix this with a streamlined bus dev methodology and divisional infrastructure. There are also a few areas of the country that are continual challenges as far as diversity of client base. It is still a very entreprenurial company and that can be very frustrating for those who want a roadmap, everything laid out and defined, and large support teams.

Pros

Opportunity to meet and work with amazing people and client companies

Cons

They do not match 401k, you need to find your own coverage to use PTO. Operations is always the scapegoat when something goes wrong. Employees in any department that are not sales are undervalued and under compensated. Nepotism is huge at this company. No job security, layoffs every quarter.
