Volt is good place to contract for - Software Development Engineer Volt Information Sciences Employee Review

Pros

There are several good reasons to work for Volt in the Seattle area. They always seem to have a very large amount of contract positions open at Microsoft. Volt offers benefits to their employees, even though they are hourly contractors. The staff is very friendly. They always treated me really well.

Cons

The salaries are average or below average in relation to what other contracting companies pay (probably because they offer some benefits). In some cases, salaries for Volt contracts are lower than the salaries for equivalent full-time positions, even though the benefits for full-time positions are much better. A couple of the recruiters that I dealt with were pushy. More than once I was setup for an interview before I was able to see the job description and determine whether or not I was qualified for or interested in the position.

Pros

Opportunity to meet and work with amazing people and client companies

Cons

They do not match 401k, you need to find your own coverage to use PTO. Operations is always the scapegoat when something goes wrong. Employees in any department that are not sales are undervalued and under compensated. Nepotism is huge at this company. No job security, layoffs every quarter.
