When I first started at Waterfall, I truly loved my job and the mission behind the organization. I had the privilege of working with vulnerable populations and alongside many dedicated staff members who genuinely cared about patients and the community. The work itself was meaningful, fast-paced, and gave providers the opportunity to make a real impact in people’s lives. I appreciated the relationships built with patients, the collaborative care opportunities, and the chance to advocate for individuals during some of the most difficult times in their lives. There were many hardworking frontline staff who continued showing up every day despite challenges, and that dedication deserves recognition. A big thank you to Dr. Gerber MD for always taking my calls and answering my questions or concerns. I remain grateful for the experience, the patients I served, and the colleagues who worked tirelessly to support the community.

One of the most difficult aspects of working at Waterfall was the workplace culture created by certain individuals in leadership and administrative support roles. In my experience, there was excessive gossip, undermining of providers, and behavior that often felt dismissive rather than supportive. There appeared to be ongoing efforts to criticize or diminish strong providers instead of fostering collaboration and professional growth. Communication from some members of management and provider support staff could at times come across as condescending and disrespectful toward licensed clinicians, despite limited clinical training or leadership background themselves. A healthy healthcare organization requires experienced, accountable, and emotionally mature leadership. Unfortunately, the environment often felt toxic, divisive, and driven by favoritism rather than professionalism and teamwork. This ultimately impacted morale, trust, provider retention, and the overall work environment.
