Pros

Benefits are okay: I have a plan that suits me, but probably wouldn’t work for most people. Hours: Aren’t too bad unless people call out. Typically get 2 days off a week with 45-hr work week. If there’s a lot of call outs, you may work 12-13-hour days for about 2 weeks, but if you manage the schedule well, you can get those days back as well. PTO: Pretty good rate Advancement: The company is constantly expanding, so you can move through the ranks pretty quickly if you apply yourself. Support: This is kind of a toss-up, but if you get a good GM, then they’ll be a good mentor and partner. You work pretty closely with them, but you can also contact your Area Director easily if you need additional help or have problems with your GM. I’ve had a great experience so far.

Cons

Pay: Pretty low for the amount of work & compared to others in the field. Stress: If you’re new to mechanical work, there’s a lot to learn. Car washes break down a lot & have a lot of finicky parts. Work-Life Balance: While the job isn’t that hard, you have to be available and paying attention to KPIs throughout business hours, which are around 14 hours, 7 days a week. Setting communication boundaries will limit advancement, so you must be responsive even on days off. Sales: Unlike some forms of retail, a good chunk revenue has a huge sales aspect. You’ve got to be able to drive sales with limited access to good talent because of the low pay. Changes: It’s a growing company, so there’s a lot of big changes. They’ve added & changed job hierarchy two times in the year & a half I’ve been here. They’re constantly changing HR processes & training guidelines, too. And they also changed the bonus structure, which for my location cut like 300-400$ off my check the last four months. If I wasn’t offered a promotion, I’d consider moving my skills elsewhere.
