Pros

Great people, engaging work, and unmatched engineering velocity. The ability to launch and iterate quickly made this an exciting place to work. I have a strong belief in the company's future and would have remained on the team if not for the toxic leadership shift described in my 'Cons' section.

Cons

It is disheartening to witness the rapid decline in culture and strategy at this company. The C-suite, particularly within the Online Organization, has adopted a leadership style that is detrimental to the workforce and the business's long-term health. Hostile Environment: Leadership frequently relies on intimidation tactics and public criticism during large calls rather than constructive feedback. This has created a culture of fear rather than psychological safety. HR Complacency: Perhaps most concerning is the lack of support from Human Resources. I witnessed firsthand that HR was present for many of these toxic interactions and questionable decisions, yet they remained complacent. There appears to be no recourse for employees, as HR seems to enable rather than correct these behaviors. Lack of Direction: Communication from leadership is often contradictory and confusing. Instead of providing a clear roadmap for execution, the current direction leaves teams unsure of the strategy and unable to succeed. Favoritism: Management appears to prioritize personal politics and favoritism over merit and data. I sincerely hope executive leadership recognizes that these behaviors are not only unethical but are actively dismantling the company's culture. Without a change in the Online Organization's leadership, the strategy will continue to deteriorate.

Pros

Native C++ client Bar is low for being a domain expert - knowledge the average Silicon Valley engineer should have is somehow in short supply there, so it's easier to stand out Pay was OK, while it lasted

Cons

Repeated rounds of layoffs, with departed colleagues' work being heaped on those remaining, left everyone miserable and stressed and just waiting for when our turn is next. My boss actually announced development was shifting to "startup mode", and when I asked if that means more upside or flexibility or equity or any of the other reasons you may choose a startup over a large established company, the answer was, "no, just more work" (!?!) Serious culture and power divide between overseas and California based development teams. Zero career growth investment in employees; no training or conferences except those offered by Zoom. Fired entire DEI team CEO attended Melania's movie premier
