Pros

RSUs Good teammates Pretty solid product suite Remote work, flexible living zones People joke on the CEO but I actually think Erics very direct and generally am ok with the direction of the company Easy to get test devices from a dev support POV From my POV, there are places to progress upward

Cons

The big one, the new org manager. Since joining this role has become the most micro managed job I've ever had, worse than call center tech support. Every single team meeting is now spent by TSE's complaining about being treated like children, with no real benefits from these changes. The morale change ive seen in the last 6 months since the reorg has been really disappointing, when I joined Zoom it was almost too good to be true, people were good at their jobs, decently well compensated and overall content. Those tides are changing very fast. PTO is sub par for the industry, unlimited PTO only applies to salary, which I wasn't told until after I was hired. No dedicated sick time. Too rigid for a developer support environment. We work with engineering teams generally, engineering teams don't care about templates or fluff or 'just a quick follow up' emails, they want to keep it to the facts and stay in the loop. The SLAs being universally applied make this impossible and it makes our team look silly and I would assume customers think theyre just talking to a middle man email monkey, not someone with an actual understanding of our dev ecosystem. Not enough tools for dev ecosystem. heres a few examples of tools I had in previous, similar roles, that Zoom refuses to adopt: git repo's, production replica data sets, direct line of comms to product teams, docker, method for virtualization Licensing is insanely complicated here Not really a clear division of labor. My team ends up working anything that even remotely touches the possibility of an integration, api or otherwise, even if totally unrelated. This is tough as it makes you work issues that are outside your domain.

Thank you for sharing your detailed experience at Zoom. We’re glad to hear that you appreciate the RSUs, good teammates, the product suite, and the flexibility of remote work. We understand your perspectives about the new organizational management style, PTO, rigidity in developer support, and lack of specific development tools. Your insights about micromanagement, the need for dedicated sick time, and the complexities of licensing and division of labor are particularly valuable. Thank you for your contributions and dedication to the team. If you’d like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to reach out to us at engagement@zoom.us.

Pros

Nothing about this company is worth noting.

Cons

One of the worst companies I have worked at. Management and leadership are disorganized and unsupportive. Employees get treated like dogs and are talked down to. No work life balance because everything is an escalation or because some “head” requested something. For a company so well regarded, they sure know to how be cheap and take away benefits. Parental leave is basically a slap you in the face. Comp is high but expect to have that dangled in your face or else you get let go. On site lunch and breakfast is nice but how much can you sugar coat the terrible work conditions with little snacks? Everything is such a mess. I’ve been here for almost 7 months and have not met a single person that enjoys their job. DO NOT JOIN ZOOM!
