Pros

The most notable benefit is the company’s name recognition—it can carry some weight on a resume. Beyond that, any other "pros" really depend on your specific team or manager. Consistency across the organization is lacking, so your experience may vary widely.

Cons

There have been ongoing challenges with leadership and management, particularly around accountability for poor decisions. While transparency is emphasized in company messaging, it doesn’t always translate into day-to-day operations, which can lead to confusion and frustration. Employees are often viewed more as resources than individuals, and work-life balance can be difficult to maintain. Recognition and advancement can sometimes appear to be influenced more by internal relationships than by performance. Compensation is below market in many cases, and benefits have gradually declined over recent years. Since 2023, there have been annual layoffs in February, with some additional reductions happening more quietly at other times of the year, contributing to a sense of instability. The overall environment has become more challenging, and there are valid concerns about the company's long-term direction.

Pros

Native C++ client Bar is low for being a domain expert - knowledge the average Silicon Valley engineer should have is somehow in short supply there, so it's easier to stand out Pay was OK, while it lasted

Cons

Repeated rounds of layoffs, with departed colleagues' work being heaped on those remaining, left everyone miserable and stressed and just waiting for when our turn is next. My boss actually announced development was shifting to "startup mode", and when I asked if that means more upside or flexibility or equity or any of the other reasons you may choose a startup over a large established company, the answer was, "no, just more work" (!?!) Serious culture and power divide between overseas and California based development teams. Zero career growth investment in employees; no training or conferences except those offered by Zoom. Fired entire DEI team CEO attended Melania's movie premier
