Pros

Free coffee!! 5% contributory pension. Mobile phone if you're management or on-call. Car Allowance/Company Car for management-level positions. Free parking for senior/management positions. Depending on your manager, you may or may not receive regular one-to-ones. Salaries are generally above market-average for the area. Life Insurance. Free annual flu jab for managers & senior employees.

Cons

If you're a workaholic, you'll love it at bet365, they'll have you working for 25 hours a day if you allow them. Very poor work/life balance. If you're recently married or you've recently had children, stay away. If you're looking to push the boundaries of your technical skills, forget it - bet365 are going backwards. If you're a Developer looking to further your skills, just take one look at the bet365 website - it runs classic ASP pages even though .NET's been around for years. Some of the management are bullies. There is an inherent blame culture. Many of the Project Managers are paper shifters whose first comment is usually "and whose fault is that?". Many of the people working at bet365 are fairly young and typically male. If you're over 35, you'll feel old. Senior management simply refuse to listen or act on feedback or comments from employees. Positive feedback is often ignored or disagreed with. Pay reviews are annual but generally based on the thoughts of the senior manager alone. There are no appraisals and no regular meetings to discuss targets, often despite reassurances to the contrary. The apps are generally sticking plaster placed upon sticking plaster. There are literally hundreds of them, all badly controlled & maintained. The terms 'agile' and 'waterfall' simply do not apply. Because the apps are badly maintained and the Testers fail to pick up even straightforward bugs, call-outs are regular. Traders think nothing of calling developers at 3AM who are then made to work on a call until 6AM and expected to be in the office for 9AM. There is no culture of sharing technical information. Discussions above a whisper are generally frowned upon. It's practically impossible to write a SQL stored procedure which passes first time - even if the change is tiny. The Dev DBAs will find a reason to fail it. Once you fix the issue, they'll find another issue. People call them the "Work Prevention Department" as it can sometimes take up to a week to push a simple change through. Training is non-existent. There is no Private Medical policy and no option to purchase. No flexible benefits scheme. No Salary Sacrifice option. For the majority of employees, there is no valid career path. 25 days annual leave - but more than 10 days at a time must be approved by the Department Head. Specifications are either extremely poor or non-existent. A web-based online system called 'Jira' is employed to deploy "specifications" - these are usually one-liners which often mean nothing to even senior employees as they're vague in context and simply lead to confusion. Given the fact that hundreds of people work in each building on the site, there are just 6 toilet cubicles for men and 6 for women per building. This inevitably means that people have to queue simply to use the toilet. Not ideal if they're feeling unwell. The sickness policy is 5 days per employee per annum meaning that many staff come into work when they're ill. Employees coughing, sneezing and even throwing up are regular occurrences. Management take a very dim view on people taking sick leave. HR and Health & Safety issue badly worded emails to all staff at regular intervals. The words "all stick and no carrot" spring to mind. They even moaned about people drinking too much milk on one occasion. Staff are not allowed to use mobile phones other than for emergency calls - and in any case all personal calls must be taken in the kitchen. The owner's kids can often be heard whining as she brings them into the office and they spend hours each day in a meeting room.

Pros

Benefits were good. Training was helpful.

Cons

Micro management and not enough balance between break and doing the job. You only get two 10 minute breaks and a half hour lunch. And if you are late by one minute, you will hear about it. No work from home. You have to hide your badge when you leave which it felt odd.
