Pros

Large firm, generally very stable. Pay is average. Lots of exposure to solutions and the vendors will ping you since they want to take advantage of the breadth and scope of ePlus to sell. ePlus is on a BUNCH of .gov contracts, so selling to SLED isn't a huge challenge. Some of the managers were and are great people that do care and the folks that you work alongside include some of the best and brightest. Internal IT in general has their stuff together so getting support isn't a problem, but that doesn't mean the actual applications are any good. (Spoiler - they are not.) Processes are generally documented well and there is always somebody who knows a tech or solution that can assist because the company is so large.

Cons

ePlus is really a collection of various VARs that have been acquired over multiple decades so there is a BUNCH of regional differences on how things are done, so if you are on a national team, expect that it will be slow going until you learn the players and how to navigate the various personalities and mini-cultures. Raises are tough to come by and expect your comp plan for commissions to be "subject to change". Track what you are owed since nobody internally will care as much as you do AND they will NOT have a sense of urgency of making you whole. Internal systems were a disconnected disaster of old technology and it is laughable that a technology firm had such poor LOB systems related to sales. In general, HQ was there as sales dis-enablement so your success was VERY dependent on your regional management. Expect HQ to look at every dime you expense like you were stealing from the mouth of an orphan so be ready to defend every nickel.

Pros

Incredible exposure to the industry and opportunities to meet tons of vendors and manufacturers. You get to see literally every aspect of VAR sales as your job responsibilities/ scope has no end. You will have experience doing literally so many things!

Cons

“Do more with less” is the motto here. Constantly being asked for more (output, process documents, more workload, more OEM coverage) while resources are actively being stripped away. Like, adding headcount but also reorganizing the team to also take headcount away. Asking to grow your renewal rate and outreach and then being rewarded by having even more work to do in the following months / years with the same and often times less pay due to increased quotas. It’s a growing company, which is awesome, but a completely stagnant mindset. Lateral career moves are the only options, and that’s impossible as the team is constantly under water.
