Pros

You will set and operate sound/lighting/projection equipment, you will figure out how to make it all work, and you will help meeting planners, hotel parnters and presenters. In short, you will learn the business by working with your hands, head and heart.

Cons

Labor costs as a percentage of revenue is a major factor in calculating your bonus and that of your boss. His or her bonus could be 25% of salary, so it is likely for your labor costs to be monitored on a DAILY basis. If you were planning to have a life, forget it.

Pros

You may get perks from the property you work at and you will see some interesting shows, exhibits, concerts during work.

Cons

You really don't have a personal life outside of work. As manager of a property you spend countless hours there and management does not care about you.

Pros

It is a career starter place if you enjoy tradeshow AV or hotel AV. They have an accelerated management program for recently graduated college students that throw them right into the fire once they complete the program. If you enjoy a challenge, this is a great way to get started.

Cons

PSAV prides themselves on a "career starter" on all their application matierials, and I cannot disagree. But this means a workplace of stupidity and inexperience at ALL levels. The company is very top heavy and one hand doesn't speak to the other. They play on the "inexperience" of recently graduated college students by giving them high titles, but paying them pennies as compared to the competition. They also make them sign a noncompete contracts to scare them into staying with the company. Call their bluff and get out if you get the chance.
