Pros

The power delivery department is growing significantly, and it is a good field to be in. The healthcare benefits are decent. Compensation is fair and competitive. It's a great group of people to work with for the most part. If you're easy to get along with, and you can quickly become fast and productive, you'll most likely do well here. Even with a few hard deadlines to meet and limited hours to complete a project, it is still a laid back atmosphere. You're not micromanaged for the most part.

Cons

Politics come into play heavily here. Middle management shows obvious favoritism, and apart from "big picture" monthly meetings upper management doesn't seem to be involved. Because the power delivery program is so new, there is no formal training procedure. Training has improved, but the learning material is mostly lessons learned documents written up by folks who have had a few years of experience. The ESOP program takes about 6 years to become fully vested, and if you leave before retirement they payout is distributed over another 5 years. There's no option to opt out for a 401k contribution instead.

Worst professional experience of my life

Pros

Can't think of any pros. The place was awful.

Cons

Proper guidance, supervision not provided. Company will always bend to client whims at management level and expect engineering to kill themselves to make unrealistic goals. Three design submittals done in my time there (less than 8 months). Each was completed around 2 am on Saturday. Senior engineers took this as common practice.

Pros

Work can be rewarding and some opportunity to work in cross functional teams.

Cons

Focus on billable work with narrow margins. Difficult to get opportunity to work other projects not related to the team goal.
