Pros

The current building is pretty nice...but they are moving soon.

Cons

It’s the most unorganized company I have ever worked for. Something they don’t tell you when you start is there point policy. Let me tell you a little about it one minute late is 1 point. Call off 3 points, l unless it’s a day that they previously denied you pto for then it’s more points, 10 points verbal. I’ve never worked for a company without a grace period before...what happens if there is a snow storm? Or a car accident? Sometimes being a few minutes late is just unavoidable no matter how much you leave early or prepare. Life happens. They also don’t inform you that the health insurance is trash. Literally if you don’t go to a mercy facility just don’t pay for the insurance. It’s useless unless you go to a mercy doctor. Also the money they put in your HSA for doing the wellness stuff is only good at mercy facilities. The vacation is not usable until you accrued it, which makes taking time almost impossible because if you get sick that’s your vacation time that you accrued so far (14 days). Oh and on that subject for holidays you have to make up those hours that week. For example on Christmas Eve we close early and have to make up the hours that week or if you had it you could use pto for those hours. They combined departments and have a new auto dialer that calls out to the patient the only issue is that we don’t know any of there information when it calls so we still have to ask there name, date of birth just pull the information up so we talk to a lot of upset people because they feel ( and are correct) that we should already know who they are talking too because “we called them”. They do not want feedback for the dialer, if you give it to them they say you are negative and they don’t want negativity. Oh it also calls the same person multiple times even if the person has already been pre registered, when we try and inform them they say it’s human error? As someone who has worked on dialers before I can say there’s is broken and they have no intention of fixing it. I’m sure there are decent places to work here but scheduling and pre registration are awful. I worked in high value call centers before but I had never had the back to back calls like that.

Pros

Ensemble is the only place I have seen that walks in their culture daily, not just talks it. Leaders are approachable, supportive, and real. Associates are genuinely empowered. Transparency from the top down is refreshing. I look forward to the launch of a better career ladder because it is sorely needed; promoting from within should be the first option whenever possible. The company goes out of its way to stay exciting, relevant, and charitable and the organizational development is top notch. We constantly evolve to meet the needs of the employees, the clients, and the industry; I have never seen senior leaders so responsive to the climate in the organization.

Cons

My only con is the pay. We have many associates leave for (significantly) higher salaries and we lose candidates in the pipeline constantly because the pay is so low. If we only pay $14/hr, we're only going to get work that's worth $14/hr. Leadership can come into the company with a decent salary but subsequent promotions are hardly worth it; getting a 4% increase in pay is ridiculous when your responsibility doubles. The promotion should be based on the job and stay competitive with outside talent, not on the candidate's current salary. There are extensive studies that show investing in human resources pays dividends; retention and internal promotions save money since the company is very focused on shaving operating margins. I would gladly forfeit a bonus since it's taxed so heavily for $2/hr more on my salary, or at least a 15% pay raise if I take a promotion within the company. The job market is too competitive and Cincinnati has the highest cost of living in Ohio; there are countless other health systems and insurance companies in the area feeding from the same pool. We need to do better to find and keep talent as we grow so quickly. Culture will carry us part of the way but we have got to stop pretending pay doesn't matter- it does. At the end of the day, this is still a job and people will leave for better compensation.
