Need to work on transparency, growth opportunities

Pros

Good work-life balance, strong mission, good health benefits

Cons

Too many closed door meetings by top-heavy leadership. Then announcements about change made to staff without enough care about their needs/consequences for their jobs. Growth nearly impossible. No development ladders for possible promotions shared.

Pros

Great mission and the rank and file truly share in the mission. Teaming approach is sometimes effective but their are silos.

Cons

Very poor HR practices no formal feedback sessions or 360 evaluations. Senior and VP level managers in several instances have very poor people management skills and really do not care about their staff. Yet the company will take their word and not take into account facts provided by staffers that the VP is not qualified.

Good Working Environment

Pros

-Great People to work with on individual teams -Competitive salary and benefits -A wide variety of community development-related activities to learn about

Cons

-The organization serves many different stakeholders engaged in different parts of the community development process/industry, which requires a lot of care in messaging and treatment of issues. This can be both interesting, but can also slow down processes as more perspectives get taken into account.
