Very greedy business, with little to no advancement opportunities past branch management. It's very hard to find a manager with ethics and morals, and the few that exist spend more time at the job than at home with their families.
Excessively long hours and very hard work with insufficient compensation. It's not well-respected by the general public, so be prepared to be treated like an uneducated loser with no direction in life. The job requires a bachelor's degree, but anyone in junior high can get it done. The front-end work is monotonous, the physical labor (dirty work) ruins everything you wear in just a couple months (yes, you're required to wear a SUIT), and the customers are rarely in a good mood (who's happy after a break-down or car accident?)
The main line of communication between employees is via personal cell phone, and there is no cell phone allowance until you make it higher than Branch Manager. Few branches have push-to-talk phones, but given the company's penny pinching habits, those are few and far between.
Very much a boys place to work. If you're female, you must be highly intelligent, sharp, abrasive, and tough to get respect at this job. Even more so if you're an attractive female, because you're automatically treated like a ditz or a piece of meat.
If you plan on having a family, or if you already have one, search elsewhere. There is no time for personal life whatsoever.
